Play free sudoku games online in two grid sizes. Mini Sudoku Daily offers 6 × 6 daily and Practice puzzles; Playpager Sudoku offers classic 9 × 9 boards with difficulty choices.
In a standard Sudoku, fill a 9 by 9 grid with digits 1 to 9 so that every row, every column and every 3 by 3 box contains each digit once. The given digits stay fixed. The aim is to determine the empty cells without repeating a digit in any of those three areas. A number's mathematical value is not used for addition or multiplication here. A 7 matters because it is different from 1 through 6 and 8 through 9, not because a sum must reach a target.
Easy sudoku games often provide more starting information or boards that can be advanced with straightforward checks. A smaller grid can help a beginner learn the same constraint with fewer symbols. Mini Sudoku Daily uses a 6 × 6 board with digits 1 to 6, daily and Practice modes. Playpager Sudoku uses the classic 9 × 9 board and offers Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced choices. The smaller board is a useful first stop; the larger one gives you more cells and candidates to track.
Choose an empty cell and list which digits already appear in its row, column and box. Any used digit is excluded from that cell. If only one possibility remains, place it. You can also reverse the question: in a particular row, where could a missing digit go? If every empty square but one is blocked by its column or box, that digit has a unique place. These two checks are called looking for a single candidate and a single location, but the names matter less than understanding why the placement is forced.
In sudoku puzzle games online, pencil marks can be helpful if the interface offers them. A pencil mark is a possibility, not a confirmed answer. When another digit is placed, revisit nearby marks because some possibilities may disappear. If a game lacks pencil marks, you can keep a short note on paper for a harder puzzle. We have not published a local interface yet, so no particular note-taking control is promised for Mini Sudoku.
Suppose two digits both fit in a cell. Choosing one without further evidence may seem harmless, but several moves later it can create a contradiction in a distant box. Then you must trace back which placement was uncertain. Instead, examine another row, column or box for a forced move. Look for a digit that has only one legal position. If you eventually use a trial assumption in a difficult puzzle, mark it clearly so you can test the consequences and undo it if necessary.
Free online sudoku games sometimes include hints or mistake counters. Those features can assist practice, but a hint is most useful when you understand why the suggested move is required. After a hint, inspect its row, column and box and rebuild the logic yourself. A high score or fast time is a separate challenge from learning a solving method. A beginner should prioritise correct reasoning and a readable grid.
“Easy” can mean different things on different Sudoku sites. One puzzle may have many givens; another may have fewer but still solve with simple techniques. A small grid is not automatically trivial. In Mini Sudoku Daily, check each row, column and marked region using digits 1 to 6. In Playpager Sudoku, check rows, columns and 3 × 3 boxes using digits 1 to 9. The same habit of checking all three areas applies in both games.
Searches for daily sudoku free games often imply a new dated puzzle. Mini Sudoku Daily offers a shared daily 6 × 6 board and additional Practice puzzles; it is the relevant option here. Playpager Sudoku offers a larger classic board with difficulty choices. Printable Sudoku is a different format from these browser games. If you want to keep a written candidate list, you can do that on paper while playing, but the games themselves run on the page.
Sudoku is useful for practising systematic elimination, attention to constraints and checking a conclusion. It does not directly drill times tables or arithmetic facts. If you want calculation with numbers, see Number Puzzles or Addition. If you want clue-based reasoning without the Sudoku grid, see Logic Puzzles. The categories are connected by reasoning, yet the actions required in each differ enough to justify separate pages.
A practical paper exercise is to take one row from a nearly completed puzzle and list the missing digits. For each empty cell, cross out digits already used in the column or box. Explain why a remaining digit must fit. That sentence is the heart of a sound Sudoku move. Repeat with another row only after checking the first placement. The method scales better than scanning randomly and hoping an answer looks right.
After completing a puzzle, inspect every row for nine different digits, then every column, then every box. A duplicated digit is a specific error you can trace. If the interface reports only that the puzzle is wrong, a manual pass can identify where a repeated value entered. Do not assume a row is valid because it contains nine filled cells; it must contain every required digit exactly once.
For children or first-time players, start with Mini Sudoku Daily and explain one constraint at a time. Its six digits and smaller cells make the candidate list shorter. For an experienced player, Playpager Sudoku offers a 9 × 9 board and harder difficulty choices. Both games use clickable controls; on a narrow screen, take time to confirm which square is selected before entering a digit.
No, not in standard Sudoku. The digits 1 to 9 must appear once in each row, column and 3 × 3 box. Mini Sudoku Daily follows the same no-repeat principle with digits 1 to 6 and its marked six-cell regions.
Scan for a row, column or box with only a few missing digits. Write down what is missing, then examine each empty cell against its crossing row, column and box. Place a digit only when it is forced by the rules. A smaller beginner grid can make this process easier to see. Avoid treating a lucky guess as a method.
Yes. Mini Sudoku Daily has a daily puzzle and extra Practice boards. Choose a board, read its region boundaries, and use the number controls to place a digit. You can also play a 9 × 9 board in Playpager Sudoku.
Sudoku rewards careful checking. Use the feedback and Undo controls when they are available to understand a missed constraint, then try a fresh board with the same reasoning rather than guessing your way through.
